My Story

I’m Titus Scott, a data analyst with a background in education, nonprofit leadership, and philanthropy.

 

I started my career in education after completing a Bachelors Degree in Science Education and a Masters Degree in Secondary Education. In my role as an educator, I taught all science levels from 5th -12th grade as well as math for 7-10th grade students. During my time as an educator I also served as a high-school principal, athletic director, soccer coach, and basketball coach. I left the classroom to launch a Detroit-based local chapter for the nonprofit organization Fellowship of Christian Athletes. I served as the director for 7 years, working with coaches and athletes in Detroit along with co-directing a summer sports camps for coaches and athletes across the state of Michigan.

In 2023, I began the Data Science & Business Analytics Master's program at Wayne State University as a part of the Mike Ilitch School of Business. I completed the program in 3 semesters and a summer with a 3.86 GPA. My practicum was done at OneMagnify in Detroit and included experiences with data engineering, analysis, and storytelling.

Upon completion of my degree, I accepted a position at The Skillman Foundation as a Data Fellow with the Council of Michigan Foundations (CMF). My Fellowship included an 80/20 percent split of my work between The Skillman Foundation and CMF. My work for CMF included extensive survey analysis of programs, conferences, and youth work, helping guide program enhancements and strategy development.  While at The Skillman Foundation my experiences have included:

  • Leading education ecosystem research and landscape analysis.

  • Synthesizing mixed-methods data into memos that informed a $1.3M foundation data strategy.

  • Building and maintaining Power BI and Excel dashboards used by staff and trustees to monitor performance and guide strategy.

  • Serving as the foundation's primary data resource, providing technical assistance, interpretation, and guidance on responsible data use.
